FEMD Urges Caution After Fatal Road Accident in Abuja

The Acting Director General of the Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department (FEMD), Engr. Abdulrahman Mohammed, has urged drivers to be cautious and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before driving.

This appeal followed a crash on Nyanya Bridge around 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 26, 2025.

A truck carrying bottled drinks reportedly had brake failure and crashed into several vehicles, finally hitting a construction truck.

A family standing nearby was hit one person died, and two others were injured and are receiving treatment at the National Hospital, Abuja.

The deceased’s body has been released to the family both truck drivers were unharmed.

A female customs officer in a car crushed by the truck also escaped injury.

Rescue teams from FEMD, the Federal Road Safety Corps, and the FCT Police responded quickly to the scene.FEMD has reminded the public to call 112 in any emergency situation.
