President Tinubu Intervenes, Grants 14-Day Deadline to Settle Outstanding Ground Rent in Abuja

Following the enforcement of revocation on 4,794 properties over unpaid ground rent ranging from 10 to 43 years, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has stepped in to offer a brief window for compliance.

As a result of the President’s intervention, affected property owners now have 14 days to clear their outstanding ground rent, including penalties.

  • Penalty Breakdown:Central Area: N5 million + Ground Rent owed
  • Maitama, Asokoro, Wuse II, Guzape: N3 million + Ground Rent
  • Wuse I, Garki I & II: N2 million + Ground Rent

Buyers who have not registered their ownership through the Minister’s Consent and Deed of Assignment also have 14 days to do so.

Additionally, the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, has extended the same 14-day grace period for payment of Right of Occupancy (R-of-O) and Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) bills. Defaulters risk revocation if they fail to comply.

The FCTA urges all property owners to pay their dues promptly to avoid penalties and help support development across the FCT.
