FCTA Plans to Turn Abuja into a Creative Hub for Arts and Entertainment

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is working to make Abuja a leading center for arts, music, and entertainment by partnering with important players in the creative industry.

At a recent forum organized by the Department of Arts and Culture, musicians, actors, directors, and cultural groups gathered at the Social Development Secretariat to discuss how to grow Abuja’s creative sector.

Olubunmi Olowookere, the Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat, said Abuja has a lot of creative talent but needs better planning, funding, and support from government policies to reach international standards.

“Our goal is to make Abuja a cultural hotspot like Lagos, full of energy, creativity, and talent,” she said. She also promised to present the forum’s ideas and suggestions to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for quick action.

Groups like the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, the Actors Guild, the Directors Guild, and traditional dance troupes attended the event. They all agreed to work together to build a strong and lasting creative economy in the capital.
