Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that he has no intention of contesting the 2027 presidential election and will not run against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu under any circumstance.
Speaking in a recent interview with BBC Pidgin, Wike firmly dismissed speculations that he might join the race if the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) zones its presidential ticket to the South.
“I will not contest again. I cannot contest against someone I am working with. Who will win except him?” Wike said, signaling strong loyalty to President Tinubu.
He also criticized the current state of the opposition, stating that the PDP has been weakened by internal conflicts and poor leadership.
“You are in the opposition and you are arrogant? That is the ruling party’s behavior,” he remarked, while taking swipes at former PDP governors Achike Udenwa and Sam Egwu, accusing them of lacking political relevance in their home states.
Wike’s comments reaffirm his political alignment with the APC-led government and further expose the deepening fractures within the PDP as the 2027 general elections approach.
