The University of Abuja has appointed Mrs Roseline Adakayi as its new Acting Registrar. She takes over from Mrs Islamiya Foyeke Abdulraheem, whose six-month term ended on May 12, 2025.
The appointment was announced by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr Olanrewaju Tejuoso, and confirmed by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Patricia Manko Lar.
Mrs Adakayi will serve in an acting capacity for six months, while the university begins the process of selecting a permanent Registrar.
She joined the university in 1999 as an Administrative Officer and became a Deputy Registrar in 2013. Over the years, she has worked in several key departments, including Student Affairs, Establishments, the Institute of Education, and the Centre for Distance Learning.
Mrs Adakayi holds qualifications in Geography, Land Surveying, and Photogrammetry, earned from the University of Jos, the Federal School of Surveying in Oyo, and RECTAS in Ile-Ife. She also recently completed a sabbatical at the University of Jos.
Professor Lar praised her dedication and leadership, saying Adakayi is well prepared to manage the university’s administrative responsibilities during this transition. She also thanked Mrs Abdulraheem for her service and commitment.
