A routine palm fruit harvest ended in tragedy on Monday when 48-year-old Ishaya Bako fell to his death from a tree in Kutara village, Abaji Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to a resident, Dantani Usman, Bako had gone to the farm with his son to harvest palm kernels. While climbing the tree, the rope securing him reportedly snapped, causing him to fall and hit his head on a stone.

His son, visibly shaken, ran home to alert other family members. They rushed to the scene and found Bako lying in a pool of blood, suffering from a severe head injury.

In a desperate attempt to save him, the villagers placed him on a motorcycle and tried to transport him to the nearest hospital. Sadly, he died on the way.

His body was laid to rest later that day.
