Air Peace Flight Cancellations Leave Passengers Stranded in Abuja
Dozens of travellers were left stranded overnight at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja after Air Peace cancelled multiple flights without prior notice.
The cancellations, which occurred late Friday, affected both domestic and international passengers. Many, including families with children and foreign nationals, were forced to sleep on airport chairs due to a lack of alternative arrangements.
Frustrated passengers expressed anger over the poor communication and absence of support from the airline’s staff.
In response, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) summoned Air Peace management for an emergency meeting in Abuja. The Director General of Civil Aviation, Captain Chris Najomo, urged the airline to reduce its flight schedule to match its available fleet capacity and avoid future disruptions.
Air Peace admitted to experiencing operational challenges, which it described as “not uncommon in the aviation industry.” The airline promised to resolve the issues and improve service delivery.
Meanwhile, the NCAA has pledged to step up oversight of all domestic carriers to ensure strict adherence to flight schedules and protect passenger rights.
Travellers are advised to monitor updates from the airline and plan ahead in case of further delays.
