The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has launched a skills and entrepreneurship training programme aimed at equipping teachers with practical tools to better prepare students for the modern, fast-evolving global economy.
The two-day workshop, which began on Monday, was declared open by Dr. Danlami Hayyo of the FCT Education Secretariat, represented by Mrs. Joy Okeke.
“The days of routine, traditional classroom teaching are over. We must prepare our children for innovation, critical thinking, and entrepreneurship,” Hayyo said, stressing the urgency of educational reform in response to today’s dynamic world.
The training seeks to shift education from theory-driven to life-applicable, bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world skills.
Dr. Mohammed Ladan, Director of the FCT Secondary Education Board, said the workshop is geared toward empowering educators to cultivate a generation of innovators.
“We are focused on producing job creators, not job seekers,” Ladan emphasized.
The initiative forms part of the FCTA’s broader agenda to align education with self-reliance, employability, and global competitiveness.
