Three operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have been confirmed hospitalised after sustaining gunshot wounds during a raid in Abuja.
The officers were attacked while carrying out a targeted operation against suspected drug traffickers in the Federal Capital Territory. According to reports, the NDLEA team came under heavy fire from armed suspects, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire.
The agency confirmed that the injured officers were swiftly evacuated to a medical facility, where they are currently receiving treatment. Their conditions are reported to be stable.
NDLEA spokespersons have condemned the attack, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to its mandate of combating illicit drug activities, and vowing that those responsible for the assault will be brought to justice.
The agency also called on the public to remain vigilant and assist security agencies by providing timely information to support ongoing efforts to rid communities of drugs and criminal elements.
