As the Easter celebrations approach, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has issued a strong advisory, urging residents to refrain from roadside trading and any activities that could compromise public safety.
Commissioner of Police, Ajao Saka Adewale, emphasized the importance of obeying traffic laws and avoiding trading along roadways, warning that such practices not only disrupt the smooth flow of traffic but also pose significant risks to both motorists and pedestrians by increasing the likelihood of accidents and gridlock.
CP Adewale further cautioned that any individual found assaulting or obstructing law enforcement officers, especially those assigned to traffic control duties, would face the full force of the law.
“The police are not adversaries; we are partners in progress,” the Commissioner stated, calling for the full cooperation of residents in maintaining safety and order across the capital city.
He also highlighted the critical need for drivers and road users to adhere strictly to parking regulations and obey traffic signs, particularly in high-traffic areas, to ensure seamless vehicular movement during the festive period.
Reiterating the civic responsibility of all citizens, CP Adewale encouraged residents to report traffic violations and suspicious activities promptly via the designated emergency lines, assuring the public of the police command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property throughout the FCT.
