President Bola Tinubu has officially flagged off the reconstruction of the Abuja-Kaduna Highway, marking the start of a long-anticipated upgrade for one of Nigeria’s busiest and most vital transport corridors.

Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, President Tinubu described the project as a critical step toward improving national infrastructure, enhancing road safety, and boosting economic connections between the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the northern region.

“This highway is more than just a road — it is a lifeline for commuters, businesses, and communities. The reconstruction will ease movement, improve security, and drive economic growth for millions of Nigerians who depend on this route,” Tinubu said.

The Abuja-Kaduna Highway, which has long been plagued by potholes, heavy traffic, and security concerns, will undergo a complete overhaul, including road widening, improved drainage, and modern safety features.

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, also assured Nigerians that the project will be handled with speed and high-quality standards, emphasizing that the government is determined to address the infrastructure decay affecting major highways across the country.

Residents and frequent travelers welcomed the announcement, expressing hope that the new road will bring relief from the years of hardship caused by bad road conditions and insecurity.

The Abuja-Kaduna highway project is part of the administration’s broader plan to modernize Nigeria’s transportation network, enhance regional trade, and improve road safety for all citizens.
