The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has received permission from the court to temporarily take over N485 million recovered from Dr. Umar Ardo.

The money was found during an investigation into Dr. Ardo, who is accused of using cash to buy four expensive properties in Abuja, including a six-bedroom mansion in Wuse 2 and a four-bedroom duplex in Katampe.

The EFCC said Dr. Ardo bought the houses from Cosgrove Investment Limited without using any bank, which is against the law.

The order for the money to be handed over to the government was given by Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday.

For now, the N485 million will remain in government control while the case continues.
