Abuja, Nigeria – April 8, 2025

Members of the House of Representatives have expressed deep concern over the absence of capital budget allocations to several departments and secretariats under the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

During a recent committee session on the FCT budget performance, lawmakers criticized the lack of funding for key infrastructure and development projects, describing it as detrimental to the growth and functionality of the nation’s capital.

Chairman of the House Committee on FCT, Hon. [Name], noted that the zero capital allocation undermines service delivery and hampers the execution of critical projects across health, education, environment, and transportation sectors.

“This situation is unacceptable,” the chairman said. “How can agencies carry out their mandates without any capital votes? The FCT deserves better.”

The committee called for an immediate review and urged the relevant authorities to prioritize funding for capital projects to meet the developmental needs of Abuja and its residents.
