President Bola Tinubu is set to commission several infrastructure projects across the satellite towns of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) during his second term in office.

The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, made this known on Saturday during an inspection tour of ongoing projects in Kwali, Gwagwalada, and Bwari Area Councils.

Wike noted that President Tinubu’s planned visit and commissioning activities in the area councils would strengthen the administration’s connection with grassroots communities.

“At least he should go to one of the Area Councils and let the people see that, yes, this is the President. We can assure you Gwagwalada, Kwali, Bwari – the President will identify with his people,” Wike stated.

He emphasized that Tinubu’s commitment to the development of satellite towns highlights his inclusive approach to governance.

“He is not only concentrating on the city. He directed that while we are working on the city, we must also emphasize developing the satellite towns,” he added.

One of the major projects nearing completion is the 15-kilometre A2 road connecting Kwali to Pai, which is reportedly 85 percent done. The Minister also inspected the Market-Palace-Radio House Road project, describing the progress as steady and on track for commissioning by the President.

In Bwari Area Council, Wike assessed the Ushafa dual carriageway, linking the War College and surrounding communities. The contractor has pledged to complete the road before Tinubu’s second anniversary in office.

Wike affirmed that the new roads will significantly reduce travel time between the satellite towns and the city centre, while assuring that the quality of work is top-notch.

He reiterated that the provision of infrastructure is a vital part of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on promoting inclusive development, creating jobs, and improving living standards in underserved areas.
