AMAC Chairman Urges Nigerians to Embrace Peace, Unity, and Love During Sallah
Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Chairman, Honorable Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has urged Nigerians to uphold peace, unity, and love as Muslim faithful celebrate Sallah.
Speaking in Abuja while welcoming well-wishers to his residence, Maikalangu congratulated Muslims on completing Ramadan, describing the fasting period as a time for deep reflection, faith, and responsibility toward one another and Allah.
“Ramadan marks the month in which Muslims believe the Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Mohammed. This sacred season strengthens our shared humanity and reinforces our commitment to a united Nigeria,” Maikalangu stated.
He highlighted the shared values between Islam and Christianity, particularly fasting, which he described as a spiritual exercise that brings people closer to God.
“This moment reminds us that creating the world we desire and achieving meaningful change must start in our hearts and communities,” he added.
Reaffirming his commitment to peace and good governance, the AMAC Chairman urged residents to promote unity as a cornerstone of national development.
“In the spirit of Sallah, I call on all citizens and residents of AMAC to uphold peace, love, and unity. These values drive our collective progress,” he said.
Maikalangu also encouraged Nigerians to pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as they work to deliver the dividends of democracy.
“We all play a role in building a more peaceful and secure Nigeria. I urge Muslims to use this period to pray for national unity, regardless of religious differences,” he concluded.
He wished all Muslim faithful a joyous and peaceful Eid celebration.
