
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has launched a new initiative to integrate technology into its educational system by distributing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) facilities to secondary schools across the Territory.
This effort represents a significant commitment to enhancing education through technology.
At the launch event, Dr. Sani Mohammed Ladan, Director/Secretary of the FCT Secondary Education Board, announced that 850 computer tablets and 45 laptops will be distributed to 20 Public Senior Secondary Schools in the six Area Councils of the FCT.
He emphasized that this project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ for the education sector.
Dr. Ladan praised the dedication of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Mandate Secretary for Education Dr. Danlami Hayyo for their roles in bringing this project to fruition. Each school will receive 42 computer tablets for students and two laptops for ICT teachers
. He noted that these resources will enhance digital literacy, improve teaching methods, and prepare students for a technology-driven future.
He assured attendees that training for the effective use of these facilities would commence immediately, ensuring they contribute positively to academic performance in FCT schools.
Ladan described this initiative as the first phase of a broader effort to modernize education and promote digital learning in the FCT.
Mrs. Joy Okeke, Permanent Secretary of the FCT Education Secretariat, highlighted the transformative leadership behind this initiative, crediting its success to President Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ and the support of the FCT Minister.
Alhaji Adam Bello Gupa, President of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), expressed gratitude to the Minister for his commitment to education.
He noted that Wike’s administration has made significant renovations and improvements to schools, enhancing the learning environment.
Gupa also commended the Secretary for Education and Dr. Ladan for their tireless efforts in securing resources to support teaching and learning.
He assured that ANCOPSS would closely monitor the use of the ICT facilities to ensure they are utilized effectively, reaffirming their commitment to leveraging technology to improve academic performance and educational outcomes.
