Abuja, Nigeria – The Nationwide League One (NLO) has officially approved the relocation of Black Scorpions FC from Ogbomoso to Abuja. The decision, announced on Sunday, is aimed at boosting the club’s visibility and enhancing its competitive opportunities within the league structure.
According to the NLO management, the approval came after careful consideration of the club’s request and a thorough evaluation of logistical and administrative factors. The move is expected to provide Black Scorpions FC with better facilities, increased sponsorship opportunities, and a stronger fan base in the capital city.
Speaking on the development, NLO Chairman, Mohammed Alkali, stated that the league remains committed to ensuring that clubs operate in environments that foster growth and development.
“After reviewing the application and assessing the club’s readiness, we have granted approval for Black Scorpions FC to relocate to Abuja. This move aligns with our goal of improving the league’s competitiveness and supporting clubs in their strategic decisions,” Alkali said.
Black Scorpions FC’s management expressed gratitude to the NLO for the approval, emphasizing that the relocation would help attract more talent, corporate sponsorships, and fan engagement.
Club chairman, Sulaiman Adeoye, described the relocation as a “new chapter” for the team, adding that Abuja offers more exposure and access to modern sports infrastructure.
“This move is in the best interest of our club. Abuja provides us with better training facilities, increased visibility, and a chance to compete at a higher level. We are optimistic about the future,” Adeoye noted.
