The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has formally moved the Sports Development Department to the recently Created Youth and Sports Development Secretariat.
It would be recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, created the Youths Secretariat in the FCTA to ensure that youth in the Territory are carried along in the government policies and programmes.
Handing over the Department, the Permanent Secretary, Social Development Secretariat (SDS), Olowookere Olubunmi said that the little delay before the final hand-over was occasioned by administrative procedures which has now been resolved, thus, the transition.
The Permanent Secretary charged the department to excel even better than they have done while in the Social Development Secretariat.
She added that the doors and facilities of the Secretariat will always be available should they require their usage as both Secretariat exists to serve the interests of the FCT Administration and the residents.
Receiving the Sports Department Staff, Structure, Assets including Liabilities, the Permanent Secretary, Youth and Sports Development Secretariat, Nancy Nathan, commended the Social Development Secretariat for organizing a formal hand-over.
She sees the exit of first the Youth department and now the Sport department all from one parent (SDS) as an act of divinity as no one can question an idea or innovation which time has come.
Nancy appealed to SDS that the new Secretariat of YSDS will continue to rely on SDS for administrative and procedural guidance as they navigate to become self sufficient and dependent over time.
The Permanent Secretary assured the department of a robust and cordial working relationship to achieve the objective of creating the new Secretariat; stating that the rights and privileges enjoyed while with SDS will not change.
