FCT Minister Visits Italy for Agricultural and Vocational Education Partnership

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, arrived in Italy on Wednesday morning to explore collaboration opportunities in agriculture, vocational education, and strategic development.

According to a statement from the minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Mr. Lere Olayinka, Wike landed in Milan at approximately 4:30 a.m. and was welcomed by Nigeria’s Charge d’Affairs in Italy, Ambassador Mustapha Mohammed.

During his visit, Wike is scheduled to hold a series of high-level meetings, including a crucial engagement with Attilio Fontana, the President of the Lombardy Region, on Thursday. The discussions will focus on fostering partnerships in agriculture and vocational training, leveraging Lombardy’s economic significance.

With a population of about 10 million people, Lombardy is the second most populous region in the European Union (EU) and boasts the second-highest GDP among EU regions. Olayinka emphasized that the minister’s meeting with Fontana aims to explore collaborative prospects and establish strategic development partnerships with the region.

Additionally, Wike will engage with investors in agribusiness and specialists in vocational education to unlock new opportunities for development.

Accompanying the minister on this trip are key officials, including FCT Mandate Secretary for Education, Dr. Danlami Hayyo; Mandate Secretary for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Lawan Geidam; Senior Special Assistant on Administration, Dr. Udo Atang; and Senior Special Assistant on Legal and Multilateral Cooperation, Mr. Benedict Daudu.
