Nigeria’s Power Generation Hits Four-Year High at 5,713.60MW – TCN
Abuja, Nigeria – March 4, 2025 – The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that the country’s power generation has reached a remarkable peak of 5,713.60 megawatts (MW), marking the highest level recorded in the past four years.
In a statement released on Monday, the TCN attributed the improved power generation to increased efficiency in transmission and better collaboration among generation companies (GenCos), distribution companies (DisCos), and other key stakeholders in the energy sector.
“This achievement underscores our commitment to enhancing electricity supply across the nation,” the TCN said. “With continuous investments in transmission infrastructure and maintenance, we are optimistic about sustaining and surpassing this milestone.”
Nigeria has long struggled with inadequate power supply, often leading to frequent blackouts and reliance on alternative energy sources. However, the latest surge in power generation signals a positive trend toward stabilizing the electricity grid.
