
Abuja, March 1, 2025 – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially signed the 2025 Appropriation Bill into law, approving a record budget of ₦54.99 trillion. The signing ceremony took place on Friday afternoon at the State House in Abuja, attended by key members of the National Assembly, senior government officials, and top economic advisors.
The newly enacted budget aims to drive economic growth, infrastructure development, and social welfare programs across the country. It is expected to focus on key sectors such as education, healthcare, security, and job creation, aligning with the administration’s renewed push for economic stability and poverty alleviation.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Tinubu emphasized his administration’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and transparency.
“This budget reflects our dedication to building a resilient economy, strengthening national security, and improving the lives of all Nigerians. We will ensure that every naira is accounted for and used effectively for the benefit of our people,” he stated.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas commended the smooth passage of the budget, highlighting the collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government.
The 2025 budget represents the highest in Nigeria’s history, surpassing the ₦28.7 trillion budget for 2024. It is designed to address critical national needs while ensuring sustainable economic growth.
More details on sectoral allocations and implementation strategies are expected to be released by the Ministry of Finance in the coming days.
