The Federal Capital Territory Fire Service has saved property worth more than ₦8 billion in the last eight months.
Accordingly, it has also recorded 271 calls for fire outbreaks and received four rescue calls from January to August, this year, 2024.
The Acting Director, Comptroller of the Service, Engr. Adebayo Amiola, made this disclosure during a press briefing in his Asokoro office, Thursday.
Amiola, who expressed gratitude to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for the achievement, explained that it became imperative for the Service to restrategize and take necessary precautions as the dry season approaches.

He Stressed that anyone caught sleeping in any of the markets would be punished accordingly, even as he disclosed that the Minister has given the Service approval to seal off any defaulting market.
Amiola stated that, henceforth, all electrical wirings and repairs in the markets must be done by professionals to avoid incessant issues of fire outbreaks.
This is as he also urged developers to always ensure building plan approvals have input of the Service to ensure compliance with fire service provisions, including provision of water hydrants and fire outposts, especially in the markets.
