The Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) is not permitted to hold any type of protest in the capital of the country, according to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police command.

The warning was issued by the command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, in a statement on Monday night. She said that the outlawed group, also known as Shi’ite, had finished preparations for a procession to commemorate Ashura, the first day of the Islamic calendar in 2024.

Because of this, the command strongly advises anyone who belongs to the banned organization to abstain from or avoid participating in any planned protests or parades in the nation’s capital. The command will not hesitate to employ all legal means at its disposal to stop or incapacitate anyone who dared to disobey the police ban.

The command is dedicated to upholding law and order, and it will take all appropriate action to stop any activities that endanger the public’s safety or wellbeing.

The statement went on to say, “CP Benneth C. Igweh, psc, mni, commissioner of police FCT, reaffirms the command’s unwavering commitment to protecting the rights of all citizens while ensuring public safety.”
