The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command arrested 32 suspects when it conducted a coordinated raid, targeting black spots and criminal hideouts in the Apo area of Abuja.

The operation, which took place around 5:45 PM, led to the arrest of suspects, including two women, for various offences such as drug peddling and the erection of illegal structures.

The raid focused on locations at Apo by Tarabora, Angwa Tiv by Zone E extension, and the fish market at Apo Resettlement. These areas were identified as hubs for scavengers (Baban Bola) and other criminals.

According to a statement by Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer, security operatives dismantled shanties and illegal structures erected by the suspects.

They also recovered exhibits including mobile phones suspected to have been stolen, dried leaves believed to be marijuana, and housebreaking tools.

The police will screen all apprehended suspects, profiling and arraigning those found culpable to deter further criminal activities in these areas. Benneth C. Igweh, Commissioner of Police FCT,  assured residents of his commitment to eradicating crime in the FCT and ensuring public safety.
