As the World commemorates the 2024 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has taken the campaign against Drug Abuse to Private Schools within the 8,000 square kilometers of the Territory.
The Mandate Secretary, FCT Health Services and Environment Secretariat (HSES), Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, who led the sensitization campaign, said that the initiative to sensitize youngsters was pertinent, to secure a better future for those who have prospects to be secured.
The Mandate Secretary, who was represented at the occasion by the Director of Administration HSES, Mrs. Gloria Dandam, stated that Drug Abuse control is the responsibility of all relevant stakeholders, particularly by enlightening youngsters about the dangers and consequences inherent in abusing drugs.
Her words: “Drug Abuse Control is the responsibility of all stakeholders including government as well as communities, families, schools, civil societies and religious organizations, especially sharing of information by parents, guardians, teachers, policy makers and youths.”
Also speaking at the event, the Chairman FCT-Drug Abuse Control Committee (DACC), Pharm. Boniface Ikwu, stated that the aim of the campaign is to converse facts that are evidential to causes and consequences so as to prevent Drug Abuse amongst the future generations.
