The Association of Hajj and Umrah Operators of Nigeria (AHUON) has facilitated the airlift of about 1,000 pilgrims for the 2024 Hajj from the Abuja Zone from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The Vice President, Abuja Zone, of AHUON, Mal Usman A. Ambursa, who witnessed the take-off of the first flight comprising 304 pilgrims at the weekend, said despite challenges, their inaugural flight was one of three scheduled flights directly to Madinah, Saudi Arabia, aboard a Saudi carrier, Flyadeal, adding that upon completion of the hajj, the first in-bound flight to Nigeria would be on June 25, 2024

National Hajj Commission of Nigeria’s (NAHCON’s) Commissioner for Policy, Personnel Management and Finance, Prince Aliyu Abdulrazak, in his remarks at the event, urged the pilgrims to ensure the use of the NUSUK card (identification and access card) to avoid being arrested by Saudi Arabian authorities, noting that he expected the tour operators, who are well experienced, to have kept the pilgrims abreast of what was expected of them in order to have a seamless hajj operation

He further said that despite many challenges, including the dollar fluctuation and uncertainties of timing, the effort of AHUON was commendable, and further called on the pilgrims to have the fear of Allah while on pilgrimage and understand the dos and don’ts and also abide by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
