The FCT Police Command has commenced investigations into the recent attacks and counter-attacks launched against each other by the factional leaders of the National Association of Nigerian Students in the Abuja metropolis.

Spokesman of the Command, SP Josephine Adeh made this known in a statement giving update on what the police was doing to stop the attacks.

Adeh said, ““The FCT police command is aware of the news making rounds about the recent attacks and counterattacks launched by the factional NANS leaders against one another in the Federal Capital Territory and therefore wishes to state that the police command has commenced an investigation into the matter.

“The command is ensuring no disruption of peace being enjoyed by residents is allowed. Further development would be communicated.”

A viral video posted on X, on Tuesday, had shown some armed men matching a young man and smashing a bus designed with the pictures of a factional NANS leader and a former presidential candidate of the association, Chibuzor Obi, at Zone 8, Abuja.

SP Adeh reiterated that the Police is taking measures to ensure there is no disruption of peace being enjoyed by residents of the territory while promising to communicate further development.

Efforts to reach out to the substantive NANS President, Lucky Emenike, and the factional President, Chinazor Obi for comments on the development proved abortive as at the time of filing this report

Recall that two factions of NANS have been at each other’s throat over issues of policies and other internal wranglings.
