President Bola Tinubu, has through the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, renewed the hope of the over 8,000 staff of the Federal Capital Territory Administration.
Head of Civil Service, Federal Capital Territory Administration, Dr. Udo Samuel Atang, who clocked 60 years on 27th March, made this declaration on Thursday during a birthday celebration organized in his honour at the Executive Hall of the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
Atang stated that from not being able to produce one Permanent Secretary, the FCT Administration has transformed into boasting of one Head of Civil Service and ten Permanent Secretaries.
The pioneer FCT Head of the Civil Service noted that the staff of the Administration have never had it so good; stressing that with the ventilation in the new FCTA system, every staff was a potential Permanent Secretary and Head of Service.
Continuing, he disclosed that issues of staff welfare were paramount to the FCT Minister; revealing that he (Wike) wasted no time in approving promotion of over 8,000 staff that participated in 2023 promotion exercise.
He also listed other commendable actions taken by the Minister, which have given the staff hope, including granting of approval to enlongation of service to nursing teachers, as well as for the payment of all outstanding allowances.
In a goodwill message, a former Senior Special Assistant to immediate past-FCT Minister, Ikharo Attah, called on the Directors to close ranks and work for the overall success of the Administration.
Attah advised them to take the elevation of the Head of Service as an act of God; stressing that power was only from God, adding that with the large openings, they too would get elevated, even as he urged them against keeping of files so as to accelerate development of the Territory.
Another goodwill message was given by Secretary, Women Affairs Secretariat, Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi, who extoled the virtues and professionalism of the celebrant, congratulating him on turning 60 and on his latest appointment.
Acting Director, Reformed Coordination and Service Improvement, Dr. Jumai Ahmadu, in her welcome message earlier, stated that the staff were overjoyed with Wike’s life-transforming changes.
Leading the audience, predominantly made up of FCTA staff, Dr. Ahmadu assured that they (staff) were highly motivated and therefore determined to give their best to improve service delivery and increase productivity.
Abuja Digest reports that President Tinubu had, earlier this week, approved a six-month extension of service for the new Head of Service in order for him to “stabilize and consolidate the ongoing processes to reposition the administrative structure of the FCT A occasioned by the recent inauguration of the FCT Civil Service Commission.”
