FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has declared that President Bola Tinubu was keeping to his pledge of transforming the Federal Capital Territory.
Wike stated this in Abuja on Saturday, after inspection of some ongoing projects within the Federal Capital City (FCC).
The projects include the Southern Parkway, spanning from the National Christian Centre to Ring Road I, being handled by Setraco; the Vice President’s official residence; and the B6 and B12 – (Constitution and Independence Avenues) respectively, being handled by Julius Berger Nigeria PLC.
Others were the Wuye Interchange, by Arab Contractors; N-20, stretching from Northern Parkway to Outer Northern Expressway in Jahi District, being undertaken by Gilmor; as well as the Outer Southern Expressway, from Aso Villa Roundabout to Ring Road I, being handled by CGC.
Wike said: “We are happy with what we have seen, and we thank God that the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ is working.
“Nigerians can see that the President has done well and the promise he has made to transform Abuja is turning out successfully and there is no need to doubt,” he said.
The Minister stated that non-fulfillment of promises by politicians was a major problem, and could cause electorates to lose confidence; stressing, that fulfilling of promises give the people hope and happiness.
Wike explained that the essence of inspecting projects was to see whether the contractors were delivering quality projects according to design without hitches.
He reiterated his resolve that no project would be abandoned as none would be awarded without funds.
The Minister disclosed that he would meet with all the contractors on Tuesday to finalise readiness to complete ongoing projects on schedule; adding that he would continue project tour on Wednesday to ascertain the level of preparation for their handing over before May 29.
On why he went inspecting projects during Easter break, Wike stated: “Easter does not mean that you will not work; Easter does not mean that you will not eat.”
“What Easter portrays is the unity for which Christ stands for all of us, and the need to preach for peace among us Nigerians,” he emphasized.
