The Department of State Services, DSS, has called for calm over security advisories by the United States Embassy in Nigeria and the United Kingdom High Commission.
In a statement late Sunday night spokesman of the Service, Dr. Peter Afunanya, said the DSS was working with other law enforcement agencies and stakeholders to maintain peace and order in and beyond Abuja.
According to him, “the Service had variously issued similar warnings in the past.
“While advising that necessary precautions are taken by all and sundry, the populace is enjoined to remain alert and assist security agencies with useful information regarding threats and suspicious criminal acts around them.”
On Sunday, the U.S. Embassy and UK High Commission warned of planned terror attacks on Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
As a result of the possible attacks, both embassies said they would cut down on all but critical essential services in Abuja.
The UK called on its staff and British citizens not to send their wards to school.
